Abstract

PURPOSE:To make backlash between input and output shafts extremely small and simply compensate wear by providing a sub-shaft having a worm which is engaged with a worm gear and linking the input shaft to the sub-shaft via a power transmitting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A worm reduction gear has an input shaft 10, a sub-shaft 20 and an output shaft 31. Worms 11, 21 formed on the input shaft 10 and the sub-shaft 20 respectively are engaged with a worm gear 32 fitted on the output shaft 31. A power transmitting mechanism consists of timing pulleys 13, 23 and a timing belt 51. The input shaft 10 and the sub-shaft 20 are linked to each other so as to be rotated in the opposite directions while being synchronized with each other via the power transmitting mechanism. Thereby, backlash can be made extremely small while simply compensating the wear of the worms and worm gear.
