PURPOSE: To provide a method for measuring the length of a weft in a jet loom, capable of surely stopping the unwinding of the wound weft after the weft is picked in a prescribed length, by incorporating the trend of the changes in wound weft-unwinding operations into the correction of a wound weft- unwinding detection time at prescribed operations and into the correction of a wound weft-unwinding estimated detection range including the detection time. CONSTITUTION: A wound weft-unwinding estimated detection time is set on the basis of a set standard time, and when the wound weft unwinding operation at prescribed operations are not detected within the time, a command for stopping the wound weft-unwinding operation is outputted at a standard time. When the wound weft unwinding operation at the prescribed operations are detected within the set estimated detection time for unwinding the wound weft, the standard time and the estimated detection time for unwinding the wound weft are corrected. Thereby, the change of the wound weft-unwinding operation can be covered in high accuracy in response to the operation state of the loom.
