Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable inexpensive production in manufacturing of introducing a CO2 gas to slurry of slaked lime, by using slag of a converter as a raw material. CONSTITUTION:A CO2 gas is bubbled in cooling water which is obtained by sprinkling water upon high-temperature molten slag of a converter or collected by spraying warm water upon cooled slag of a converter to calcium carbonate fine powder. Slag of a converter has high CaO content, the cooling water is water of high pH, the high pH is neutralized by introducing the CO2 gas to the cooling water and this production is advantageous with respect to a countermeasure for waste water. An exhaust gas containing CO2 can be used in bubbling. By this method, calcium carbonate fine powder having particle size of submicron, similar to calcium carbonate obtained by pulverizing lime stone, can be produced.
