Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a buckling part and to stably obtain a thick pipe excellent in the dimensional accuracy by executing the heating, thickening and cooling of a metal pipe inside a heat resistant insulating property ceramic made die slightly larger than the pipe outer diameter. CONSTITUTION:A metal pipe 1 is passed through the die 10 made of ceramics of heat resistant insulating property slightly larger than the outer diameter of the metal pipe 1, interposed between a fixed end 4 and moving end 5 and pressurized by a fixed pressure in the pipe axial direction. The die 10 and coil 3 are integrated and the die 10 is set by moving to the working part of the metal pipe 1. A high frequency current is passed and when the local part inside the die 10 of the metal pipe 1 is subjected to induction heating, the metal pipe 1 is heated and deformed locally and the outer diameter and thickness are increased until abutting to the die 10 inside. The die 10 and coil 3 are moved in the pipe axial direction at the speed of obtaining the specified temp. The thick pipe having excellent dimensional accuracy is thus obtd. stably.
