Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the elbow joint free from uneven heating, undesired deformations, cracks, etc. to be manufactured by performing induction heating with coils in place of burners in the mandrel bending system of combustion furnaces.
CONSTITUTION: A mandrel 2 whose diameter gradually increases and which is curving downward is mounted to the end of a work guide bar 1. Respectively spare, expanding and curving heating coils 3, 4, 5 are disposed to the outside circumferences of the portion 1a, expanding part 2a, and curving part 2b of the guide bar close thereto. An annular spacing S through which the cylindrical work W can pass is provided between the guide bar 1 and coil 3 and between the mandrel 2 and coils 4, 5. The end of the mandrel assumes the trimmed part 2c protruding from the coil 5. Electric powers are controllably supplied from respectively separate high frequency power sources to the coils 3W5 and the work W is fed to the heating parts composed of the respective coils subsequently by a press or the like. The heating temperatures are made approximately equal in the regions of the coils 3, 5 and higher in the region of the coil 4. The elbow joint formed is pushed out downward.
