Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture hot worked tools having excellent resistance to wear and galling, by heating tools made of cast iron or steel by high frequency wave in an atmosphere of steam etc. to form oxide film in a short time. CONSTITUTION:A tool 1 made of steel or cast iron is moved relatively to a high frequency heating coil 2, hereby the tool 1 is heated. At the same time steam or sprayed water is injected through a nozzle 3 thereby covering the surface of the tool. This method allows to increase the formation rate of oxide film, hence directly oxidized film 10-30mu in thickness, which is effective in improving resistance to wear and galling, is formed in a short time.
