Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly detect slight leakage by introducing the positive pressure canned gods in which a rare gas such as gaseous helium is sealed into a hermetic chamber and detecting the gas in the chamber with a rare gas mass spectrometer. CONSTITUTION:The rare gas such as gaseous helium or gaseous argon is sealed as a leakage detecting medium into a can by dissolving said gas together with carbon dioxide and gaseous nitrogen, etc., into the contents in a carbonator. The positive pressure canned goods in which the rare gas is sealed are introduced into the chamber and the chamber is hermetically sealed. The gas in the chamber is then detected by the mass spectrometer of the rare gas such as gaseous helium or gaseous argon. Such slight leakage at which the gas leaks extremely slightly from the canned goods over a long period of time is thus exactly detected.
