Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a vacuum cleaner having good operability by stopping a drive motor when the number of revolutions of a rotary brush becomes smaller than the preset number of revolutions. CONSTITUTION: The revolution number detecting means 27 of a rotary brush 4 is constituted of a rotation detecting reflector 21 and an optical sensor 24. The reflected light is increased and decreased by the light reflecting white belt 22 and light absorbing black belt 23 of the reflector 21, and rotation detection pulses are obtained from a light receiving element 26 by the changes of the reflected light. When the detected number of revolutions obtained from the rotation detection pulses becomes smaller than the preset number of revolutions, a microcomputer element 16 outputs a stop signal. A brush drive motor control circuit 31 and an electric fan control circuit 29 control respective drive circuits 32, 30 via the stop signal from the microcomputer element 16 to cut off the power feed to a brush drive motor 5 and an electric fan 2.
