Abstract
PURPOSE:To secure high refining efficiency by increasing basicity at melting finish period to melting initial period of scrap, adding flux and desulfurizing, to melt the scrap at good yield under consumption of the carbonic material as less as possible. CONSTITUTION:At the time of melting and refining the scrap in a top and bottom blowing converter, the basicity of the slag is controlled at 1.0-2.0 during the time from the initial period to the peak period of the melting, to improve fluidity by lowering melting point of the slag. By this method, at the time of melting the scrap which is not yet melted, the slag to be obstructed is shifted to metal pool at lower part to bare the scrap. By securing the slag quantity at 30kg/t, cover of the metal pool is produced. In this result, high effective and high efficient melting is progressed at good yield while restraining generation of fume from the metal pool. Then, in the end period of the melting when the melting is almost completed, by adding the flux of lime-series, the desulfurization is promoted. Further, by increasing the quantity to 100kg/t, the refining having good yield while sufficiently restraining the vigorous fume loss at high temp. period.
