Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a titled apparatus for production which assures the life of an electron beam generator for generating an electron beam and shortens the time for solidification by constituting the apparatus in such a manner that a chamber for producing metal powder from the liquid drops generated from a molten base material is divided to a plurality and the vacuum degrees therein are dropped successively. CONSTITUTION:The liquid drops 6 are formed from the molten base material 4 by projection of the electron beam 5 in a melting chamber 1 maintained at 10Torr vacuum. Said liquid drops 6 are then dropped perpendicularly through 1st and 2nd pass holes 11, 14 out through dropping holes 13, 16, 23 onto a disk 22 provided in the 1st splashing chamber 21 and are scattered circumferentially. The splashed and pulverized liquid drops 6 are sent through a slit 35 into the 2nd splashing chamber 31 where the liquid drops are solidified and are recovered 34 as the metal powder 36. Since the atmosphere pressure in the splashing chamber 31 is maintained under 1Torr in this case, the pulverized liquid drops 6 can be rapidly solidified. There is, therefore, no need for forming the splashing chamber 31 particularly to a large size in order to take the time for solidification.
