Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently, simply and stably produce the desired metal powder having high purity by partitioning space for forming molten metal drop by generating arc between plural electrodes and space for scattering and cooling the drip with a rotating disk.
CONSTITUTION: In the space 63 for forming the drip partitioning a chamber 61 with a partition wall 62 having communicating part 71 under reduced pressure, the arc 69 is generated by conducting current from an electric source 68 between the consumable electrodes 67 arranged as facing at suitable interval. By this method, the molten metal drip 70 is formed and dropped and introduced in the drip cooling space 64 holding the prescribed pressure with Ar, etc., through the above communicating part 71. Here, the drip 70 is dropped on the disk 73 rotating at high speed and projecting annular side wall part 73a at outer periphery of upper face thereof. The drip 70 is scattered further as small particle of the drip from the side wall part 73a with centrifugal force of the disk 73. This small drip is efficiently cooled with atmospheric gas of Ar, etc., to obtain the metal powder 75 having the desired particle size.
