Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject fiber having slight reduction in tear tanacity and soft handle by pretreating a cellulose-based fiber structure with an aqueous solution of a swelling agent, subjecting the surface of the fiber with a resin for inhibiting enzyme activity to resin finishing and treating the structure with a cellulase enzyme. CONSTITUTION: A structure of cellulose-based fiber such as natural or regenerated cellulose is pretreated with an aqueous solution of a swelling agent of the fiber, such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, zinc chloride, sodium hydroxide, etc., and washed with water. The surface of the fiber is subjected to resin finishing by using a resin (e.g. melamine-based, glyoxal-based resin, etc.), for inhibiting enzyme activity. The structure is immersed in an aqueous solution of cellulase enzyme and kept warm at activation humidity (e.g. being wrapped with a moisture-impermeable film) while preventing water volatilization to carry out an enzyme reaction.
