Abstract

PURPOSE:To satisfactorily measure a molten pool width in a short time by carrying out differentiation processing on a scanning line of a molten pool picture and carrying out integration processing on its specific region. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal of the molten pool is differentiated for every scanning line. Then, an electrode is detected from the size of a high luminance distribution range of the prescribed scanning line, by which a welding start is decided. When the welding start is decided, the molten pool center is found from a result of the above-mentioned differentiation and further, two regions at least are set with respect to the center. Then, the integration is carried out for each region with respect to the picture signal included in these regions to find the high luminance distribution range for every region. Then, the maximum one of the high luminance distribution range is the molten pool width.
