PURPOSE:To accurately determine the position of a slide layer, etc., by analyzing signal waveforms from a couple of transducers provided above and below an AE wave (elastic wave) measurement rod and finding the integral value of an AE event, etc. CONSTITUTION:The AE signal waves from the transducers provided above and below the AE wave measurement rod are inputted to a signal conditioner 14 through a preamplifier 11, an isolation module 12, and a filter 13. Here, a counter 16 counts only waveforms exceeding a prescribed threshold value and outputs the counted value to a plotter, etc. Pulses sent to a digital envelope processor 15, on the other hand, are outputted to the counter 16 so that a pulse train generated every time a prescribed blind time is elapsed is regarded as one pulse corresponding to one event. The output of the counter 16 becomes data indicating the slide quantity, etc., of the slide layer from prescribed expression for obtaining a counter rate, etc., by inputting a prescribed command pulse from a reset clock 17. Further, an analyzer 18 takes an analysis to find the position of a fluid layer from the prescribed expression according to a propagation speed, etc.
