Abstract
1449884 Measuring by ultrasonic waves INST ELEKTRO IMENI E O PATONA AKADEMII NAUK UKRAIN SSR 18 Sept 1973 [16 Jan 1973] 43674/73 Addition to 1429020 Heading H4D For enabling measurement of propagation time of ultrasonic waves in a specimen 3 when both sides thereof are not available for placement of ultrasonic transducers, or, when such velocity is known, physical or chemical characteristics, a pulse generator 1 is initially triggered by a "force-trigger" unit 8, a single transmitreceive transducer 2 is utilized, a switch 4 causes transmitted pulses to be excluded from an amplifier 5, the echo pulse train from repeated bounces across length l is fed to amplifier 5 to disable unit 8 and after detection, 6, is fed to a pulse counter 7 the output from which triggers generator 1, and the counter is reset by each pulse transmitted by the transducer. In the embodiment the fourth echo pulse counted triggers generator 1, Fig. 2 (not shown).
