Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a thin film of superconductor from being affected with external forces by housing a superconductor unit in the center of an insulator with its both end portions passed through wire materials formed with a high tension strength material, deforming them in a spiral form, and housing them in a metallic pipe by internal surface contact. CONSTITUTION:A superconductive single wire made by forming oxide thin films on both surfaces of a tape-like foil is coated with an insulator such as glass nitride, a multiple number of it are laminated and folded in layers to be a superconductor unit 1. A cable is constituted with an insulator 2 made of an insulation material such as fluorinated resin, a coolant passage 3 for cooling the superconductor unit 1 housed in a hollow part of the insulator 2, and a housing body 5 made of the same material with the insulator 2, and a high tension strength member 4 such as steel wire embedded in the holding body 5. This cable is spirally formed with a pitch 10-60 times the major axis lof the cross section of the superconductor, and held with and to come into contact with the inner surface of a metallic pipe 6 such as of aluminum or copper. This makes it possible to maintain uniform, stabilized holding and to prevent a superconductor film from being affected with external forces.
