Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent write and read errors and paper jamming due to folding, shifting, etc., of a recording card by conveying the card to a prescribed position while making a magnetic detection part float, and bringing the card into contact with a magnetic detection part side. CONSTITUTION:When the recording card 2 is inserted into an entrance 32, a sensor 35 recognizes that and a stepping motor 36 begins to rotate. Consequently, the card is conveyed to the side of a sensor 40 by a rubber roller 37 through a belt 38. The roller 37 is slanted toward the magnetic detection part 41, so the card 2 moves along the side of the detection part 41. Further, its play is eliminated by a spring 42 and when the front end of the card 2 reaches a sensor 43, the motor 36 stops and a paper presser 44 is lowered to fix the card 2. Then the detection part 41 which floats at the position of a home position 45 moves toward an end point 46 while moving down to contact the magnetic stripe 3, writing or reading data. Consequently, errors and paper jamming due to the folding, etc., of the card 2 are precluded.
