CONSTITUTION:As for a scanning side electrode of a liquid crystal matrix panel, one piece each in an effective scanning period and a horizontal retrace line period, that is, two pieces are selected in one horizontal scanning period, and in one field period, the scanning side electrode corresponding to the number of effective scanning lines of one frame (two fields) period is selected. In such a way, even if an interlace scan is executed by using a liquid crystal matrix panel in which the number of scanning side electrodes exceeds the number of effective scanning lines of one field portion, all the scanning side electrodes can always select every field, and the number of times of selection per unit time of a picture element is not decreased than usual, therefore, the deterioration of a contrast ratio can be prevented.
