Abstract

PURPOSE:To carry out proper fuel feeding and obtain a favorable starting property as well as a stable idling speed by lowering a fuel pressure when variation in engine speed becomes below a defined value. CONSTITUTION:A regulator 24 has a first diaphragm device 24a and a second diaphragm device 24b which are connected in series. And, a control unit 34 sets a fuel pressure in three stages by controlling the on/off of a first solenoid valve 27 and a second solenoid valve 28 based on the signal of a intake air temperature sensor 17 and by switching over the introduction of negative pressure into the diaphragm devices 24a, 24b. In this case, when the variation width of engine speed is below a defined value, solenoid valves 27, 28 are controlled so as to lower the fuel pressure by one stage. Thereby, when a proper fuel feeding condition is ensured in a condition of increased fuel pressure, this condition is rapidly detected to lower then fuel pressure, enabling a proper fuel pressure control.
