Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a long-life ion laser tube having a function supplying a laser gas consumed by sealing the laser gas into a gas cell up to fixed pressure in a package when sealing by a metallic thin-film is released. CONSTITUTION:In an ion laser, etc., a gas cell 11 is installed in a gas reservoir 3, and argon gas is sealed into 12 the gas cell 11. The side faced to a discharge wire of the gas cell 11 is sealed with a metallic thin-film 13. A laser gas in an ion laser tube is consumed in response to the magnitude of the discharge time and discharge currents, and gas pressure gradually lowers. On the other hand, the thickness of the metallic thin-film 13 slowly reduces due to sputtering by discharge, and lastly a hole is bored to the thin-film 13 and argon gas in the gas cell 11 is discharged into the gas reservoir 3. Consequently, the pressure of the laser gas in the ion laser tube rises, thus lengthening life which may be shortened due to the lowering of the pressure of the ion laser tube. Since the quantity of the metallic thin-film 13 sputtered has approximately linear relationship with the quantity of the gas consumed, the laser gas is supplied when the pressure of the laser gas lowers and reaches fixed gas pressure without depending upon the use conditions of the ion laser tube.
