Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure ignition by setting the exciting time to an ignition coil in a low-rotation region with a large change quantity of the engine rotating speed in a simple control system setting the engine rotating speed and the target ignition timing based on the reference signal only.
CONSTITUTION: The reference signal is outputted from a means A for each preset crank angle position. The engine rotating speed is detected by a means C based on the period between signal outputs measured by a means B for each output of the reference signal. On the other hand, the target ignition timing when the excitation of an ignition coil is cut off is set by a means D in response to the engine operating state. The excitation start timing of the ignition coil is set by a means F based on the results of the means B, D, E. The excitation of the ignition coil is started at the excitation start timing, and the ignition signal cutting off the excitation is outputted by a means G when the excitation time elapses or the reference signal is inputted, whichever the earlier.
