Abstract

PURPOSE:To use a data buffer for a prefetching control at the time of writing data by having the data buffer at every data storage device. CONSTITUTION:Updating data transferred from a data processor at the time of writing the data are transferred to a data buffer 4, data read normally by a data reading control means are transferred to the data processor, a retrying processing when errors are detected by an error detecting means 9 has a data path switching means 3 to read out the reading data stored temporarily to the data buffer 4 and transfer them to the data processor. A disk controller 1 designates a writing record and instructs writing to a micro-control part 6, transfers the updating data through a data line 10, and the data path switching circuit 3 stores the updating data into the data buffer 4. When errors are generated in writing to a recording medium 7, the micro-control part 6 executes the retrying processing based on the data stored in the data buffer 4. Thus, the data buffer can be used for prefetching at the time of writing the data.
