Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify a flaw detection signal without being affected by a transmitting coil, by arranging at least two receiving coils in a steel pipe to be detected close to each other to be connected together differentially. CONSTITUTION:A transmitting coil 1 and receiving coils 21 and 22 arranged close to each other are wound on shells 31 and 32 arranged securely on the circumferential surface of a flexible connection tube 10 being separated from one another while the receiving coils 21 and 22 are connected together differentially so that a differential output becomes zero when a magnetic flux acts on both the coils 21 and 22. Moreover, a guide element 12 is fixed on the connection tube 10 as having rings at both ends thereof sandwitching a transmitting coil unit and a receiving coil unit. The coils 1, 21 and 22 are all electrically connected to a flaw detector body through a lead 6 inserted into the connection tube 10. This set up eliminates the influence of the damage in a steel pipe 5 under detection to be affected on the transmitting coil 1.
