Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an optical information recording medium having a long useful life characteristic, by providing a recording film with a structure in which metallic indium particulates and a fluorine-containing organic material are dispersed in a matrix comprising indium oxide particulates. CONSTITUTION:An optical information recording medium comprises on a substrate a recording film for recording and reproduction of information by irradiation with a laser beam. The recording film comprises metallic indium particulates and a fluorine-containing organic material dispersed in a matrix comprising indium oxide (In2O3) particulates. The change with time of a thin film with this structure is primarily a change arising from the reaction of moisture in the atomosphere with the metallic indium particulates, because In2O3 and the organic material are chemically stable. The organic material dispersed in the In2O3 matrix functions as an inhibitor of deterioration of the metallic indium particulates in the thin film. The inhibiting effect is higher in proportion as the critical surface tension of the organic material is made lower. Namely, when the fluorine-containing organic material is used as the organic material, the useful life characteristic of the recording film is enhanced.
