Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform a proper processing, by providing a change-over means which changes over a discriminating means to the processing of used head module after the application of aging when an unused head module is set at the power input to a printer. CONSTITUTION:A head detecting and driving part 2 is composed of a transistor 5, resistances 6, 7, and 9, and a detecting inverter 8. A head module 3 is provided with a detector 4 therein. When a head module is new, with the conduction of a power a cut signal is issued. Since in an initial state the transistor 5 comes into non-conduction states, a voltage V is applied to the detecting inverter 8 through the fuse of the detector 4. The detecting inverter 8 inputs a signal NEW to a CPU 1. The CPU 1 has stable particulated states with the detection of the signal NEW, thus conducting an aging instead of a printing until the same charge phase is detected. After the completion of the aging, the CPU 1 actuates the transistor 5 to melt the fuse as a detecting element to prevent the same processing from being repeated at a next power ON. In this manner, when an unused new head module is loaded, a check is automatically carried out and a suitable processing is applied.
