Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the positive charge providing property of a carrier over a long period by forming a triboelectric charge controlling layer contg. fluoroalkyl (meth)acrylate repeating units by a specified amt. or more of the amt. of the layer. CONSTITUTION:A carrier is obtd. by successively coating a core material with a layer of styrene-based resin and a triboelectric charge controlling layer contg. a fluoroalkyl (meth)acrylate-based polymer. The content of fluoroalkyl (meth) acrylate repeating units in the triboelectric charge controlling layer is regulated to >50wt.%, especially >55wt.%. In case of <=50wt.% content, the positive charge providing property of the carrier varies and toner particles may not be positively charged at all times. The amt. of triboelectric charge of a developer contg. the carrier may be reduced at the beginning of use and the positive charge providing property of the carrier may not be kept stable.
