Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable control with the substantially same accuracy as that before fail by operating a throttle shaft connecting mechanism to connect an operating shaft of an actuator for the fail case with a throttle shaft when a throttle valve control device fails. CONSTITUTION:During normal operation, a throttle shaft connecting mechanism CM of a fail-safe mechanism FS is in the releasing state, so that a throttle valve 3 is controlled to open and close by an actuator 6 operated according to a control signal. When a control system operated by the actuator 6 fails, an actuator 26 for the fail case is operated, whereby a connecting hole portion 24a of the first connecting member 24 is engaged with a connecting hole portion of a circumferential projecting portion 25 of the second connecting member 27 against a spring to connect an operating shaft 26a with a throttle shaft 3a, so that the throttle valve 3 is controlled to open and close by the actuator 26 for the fail case. Thus, at the time of fail, the fail-safe mechanism is operated automatically and reliably and the amount of intake air can be controlled with the substantially same accuracy as that before the failure.
