Abstract

PURPOSE:To simultaneously measure the values and directions of the circumferential stress and axial stress of a shaft to be measured by transducing the stress of the shaft into magnetic strain and transducing the magnetic strain into the variation quantity of inductance, and performing addition and subtraction. CONSTITUTION:The grinder unit 3 of an industrial robot 1 has plural stages of grooves 7a and 8a formed in the peripheral surface of the output shaft 6 of a motor which drives a grindstone 4 to obtain segments 7 and 8. Then coils 9, 10, 11, and 12 are mounted in a cylindrical yoke 15 without contacting the outer peripheries of the segments 7 and 8. Here, the coils 9 and 11 are incorporated in a bridge circuit 13, and a subtracter 25 is connected and the coils 10 and 12 are incorporated in a bridge circuit 14 and an adder 29 is connected. Consequently, when a torque T or axial force F is applied to the shaft 6, magnetic strain is generated in the segments 7 and 8, the coils 9-12 vary in inductance, and the circuits 13 and 14 are unbalanced, so the circuit 13 outputs the value and direction of the circumferential stress of the shaft 6 and the circuit 14 outputs the value and direction of the axial stress of the shaft 6.
