Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the titled Co-base alloy welding wire which can be used for an automatic welding machine by subjecting the molten Co-base alloy adjusted in the components contained therein to cooling, heating, hot working and annealing under specific conditions, then adjusting the alloy to specific tensile strength. CONSTITUTION:The melt of the Co-base alloy which is adjusted in the content of Cr, W and C to desired components and contains <3% Ni is solidified at >=10<2> deg.C/sec cooling rate to form a shape stock having about <=3mu carbide size. This stock is then heated to the temp. above 1000 deg.C and below the m. p. and the continuous carbide is cut to pieces; thereafter, the stock is hot worked at >=900 deg.C and below the m. p. to spheroidize the shape of the carbide. The material is further subjected repeatedly to hot or cold working and annealing at >=1000 deg.C, by which the tensile strength is adjusted to 90-160kg/mm<2>. This wire is useful as the welding wire for an automatic welding machine.
