Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent poor jetting of ink and clogging of nozzles through effective utilization of jet nozzles for inks of colors at the time of recording by monochrome, by switching-over the flow passage of an ink of a predetermined color and that of the remaining other color inks, thereby to improve the recording speed at the recording time by monochrome. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 15 is manipulated to change from multi-colored recording to monochrome recording, a valve means 13 in each of three-way valves 2C, 2M and 2Y is rotated so that each of flow passages 43C, 43M and 43Y is communicated with a flow passage 39 via a flow passage 34. Accordingly, inks of each color stored respectively in ink tanks 4C, 4M and 4Y through flow passages 42C, 42M and 42Y to jet nozzles C1-C4, M1-M4 and Y1-Y4 are replaced with the ink in a tank 4B. Simultaneously when a recording head 1 is moved in a lateral direction by a control circuit 10, black ink is jetted from jet nozzles B1-B4, C1-C4, M1-M4 and Y1-Y4. Accordingly, recording informations of a single color are divided and recorded in memory circuits MB, MC, MM and MY, on the basis of which recording is carried out.
