Abstract

PURPOSE: To develop a high-strength ZrO2-based ceramic having high acid resistance and excellent heat stability, by blending a stabilized ZrO2 sintered material containing Y2O3 as a stabilizer with Al2O3 and MgO.
CONSTITUTION: A ZrO2 sintered material containing <5mol.% Y2O3 as a stabilizer or 1.0W15mol.% sum of 0.5W5mol.% Y2O3 and 0.5W12mol.% CeO2 is blended with 1W30wt.% sum calculated as Al2O3 and MgO of Al-based component and Mg-based component. In the operation, the blending molar ratio of both the components (Al2O3/MgO) calculated as Al2O3 and MgO is preferably 35W45/65W55 or 60W70/40W25 or 85W99/15W1. By specifying the blending ratio of Al2O3 and MgO as mentioned above, a zirconia ceramic having excellent strength, acid resistance and heat stability is obtained.
