Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently oxidize and decompose the org. or inorg. substances in waste water by wet-oxidizing the waste water at <=370 deg.C and at a specified pressure in the presence of a solid catalyst, specified amts. of an oxygen-contg. gas an ozone, etc. CONSTITUTION:The waste water is treated in the presence of a solid catalyst at <=370 deg.C and at a pressure where the liq. phase of the waste water is maintained. In this case, the waste water is wet-oxidized in the presence of a gas contg. oxygen in the amt. 1.0-1.5 times the theoretical amt. required for decomposing the org. and inorg. substance in the waste water into nitrogen, gaseous carbon dioxide, and water, ozone, and/or hydrogen peroxide. The molds of ozone to be used are appropriately controlled to 0.001-0.6 times the theoretical mols of oxygen required for decomposing the org. and inorg. substances in the waste water into nitrogen, gaseous carbon dioxide, and water. In addition, the reaction temp. is appropriately adjusted to 100-370 deg.C.
