Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize the input/output matching and the low distortion at the time of attenuating a gain by inserting a high frequency attenuator composed of a diode into the front step of a wide band amplifier. CONSTITUTION:To the front step of a wide band amplifier, a high frequency attenuator with diodes 102-104 is connected. When an input signal power is minimum, a certain extent of the current flows from an attenuating quantity control terminal 120 to a ground 123, and thus, the internal resistance value of the diode 102 is lowered and the attenuating quantity is made minimum, and reversely, when an input signal power is maximum, the current is made minimum, the internal resistance is raised and the attenuating quantity is made maximum. Usually, the condition between these is obtained, and the attenuation in accordance with the input signal power is executed. The input output impedance matching is executed by controlling the voltage of an impedance control terminal 119, changing the current quantity to flow at diodes 103 and 104 and changing the internal resistance. Thus, the input output matching is kept and the attenuation can be executed without generating the high order distortion.
