Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a low price grid by covering a flat plate made of copper or a copper alloy with lead or lead alloy, and by expanding or branking the falt plate in a grid. CONSTITUTION:When a lead plated copper plate 1 is expanded, because a lead layer 2 on the surface is soft, the cut end of the copper plate 1 is thinly covered with a lead layer 2'. A copper current collector 3 in which almost all surfaces are covered with lead similarly to a conventional copper grid is obtained. As the method for covering the copper plate 1 with lead, thermal spray, sputtering, ion plating, or the melt bonding or sticking of a thin copper sheet on the copper plate 1 is used in addition to electric plating. Either way, however, shows similar effect. A copper grid having low price but good life can be manufactured.
