Abstract

In case of a no-load state, no bending is generated in an optical fiber 2, by the springs 9a-9d, but when force F in the direction as indicated with an arrow is applied to the holder A6, bending of the fiber 2 becomes large in accordance with its magnitude, and the light transmission attenuation quantity of the fiber 2 increases. Accordingly, by measuring this increase portion, the magnitude of the force F is detected. In this regard, by changing a spring constant of the spring 9a-9d, the force F can be detected extending over a wide range.
