Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize an encoder device which can drive at high speeds in a simple construction, by converting parallel signals to serial signals of position signals detected at a plurality of detecting stages. CONSTITUTION:Lights generated from light emitting elements 1a1-1an, 1b and 1c enter respective light receiving elements 2a1-2an, 2b and 2c via through-holes formed in a code plate 6 rotating in a direction shown by an arrow 17. The output signals of the light emitting elements 2a1-2an, 2b and 2c are amplified in amplifiers 3a1-3an, 3b and 3c and shaped in wave-form into rectangular waves by waveform shaping circuits 4a1-4an, 4b and 4c, respectively. The output signals from the circuits 4an and 4b are inputted to an exclusive OR circuit 12. On the other hand, the parallel signals outputted from the circuits 4a1-4an and 12 are inputted to P/S converting circuit 11 to be converted into serial signals. The output signals of the P/S converting circuit 11 are, through an output circuit 5, outputted to a control circuit 16. The output signals from the circuits 4an, 4b and 4c are inputted to the control circuit 16 through corresponding output circuits 15a-15c, respectively. Accordingly, the rotating position of the code plate 6 can be determined by the outputs of the output circuit 5, the rotating direction thereof can be determined since the outputs of the circuits 4an and 4b are different 90 deg. in phase from each other, and moreover, the rotating number thereof can be decided by the outputs of the circuit 4c.
