Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect not only the r.p.m. of a magnetic gear but also the rotational direction by connecting four magnetic resistive elements in series such that they are arranged in the rotational direction of the magnetic gear.
CONSTITUTION: A positive and negative power source is connected with the both terminals of a circuit of four magnetic resistive elements M1 to M4 which are arranged in parallel and connected in series. The spacing between the first and fourth elements M1 and M4 is made substantially equal to the pitch of a gear 3 and is supplied with a bias magnetic field by a magnet 2. The gear 3 is turned so that the signals from both the first and second output terminals 6 and 8, which lead from the intermediate points between M1 and M2 and M3 and M4, and the earth terminal, which leads from the intermediate point between the M2 and M3, are fed through transistors Tr1 and Tr2 to a comparator 15. The direction of rotation of the gear 3 is detected from the waveform signal which are taken out of an output terminal 13. The r.p.m. of the gear 3 in the forward direction A is taken out of a counter 17.
