Abstract

PURPOSE:To supply water from the moisture content contained in air without replenishing water by partitioning both the space of a cooling part and the space of the ambient air with a steam separation membrane and continuously supplying the steam allowed to permeate the separation membrane to the cooling part. CONSTITUTION:A steam separation membrane 1 is provided to the top surface of both a cooling part 2 incorporated in a thermally-insulated box 5 and a water vessel for storing water condensed therein. The space closed by the thermally-insulated box 5 and the steam separation membrane 1 is airtightly constituted so that outflow and inflow are not caused excepting steam and gas which are allowed to permeate the membrane 1 and introduced thereinto. A feed water plug (port) 4 joins to the bottom part of the water vessel 3 and the water stored in the water vessel 3 is led to the outside and can be used for potable water and the other purpose. As the steam separation membrane 1, a nonporous high molecular membrane or a porous composite membrane is suitable and a polydimethylsiloxane membrane, etc., are used as the former and the membrane consisting of a high molecular porous base material coated with a thin film of polydimethylsiloxane is used as the latter.
