Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a composite material composed of a composite polymer compound derived from a metal alkoxide, an organic monomer and a silane coupling agent, having high mechanical strength, excellent thermal stability and chemical resistance and good moldability and producible with simple process. CONSTITUTION:The objective composite material is produced from (A) 100pts.wt. of a metal alkoxide [e.g. Si(OC2H5)4, Al(O-iso-C3H7)3 or Ti(O-iso-C3H7)4], (B) 3-300pts.wt. of an organic monomer (e.g. acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or dimethylformamide) and (C) 1-300pts.wt. of a silane coupling agent and contains inorganic part and organic part in the molecule. It has excellent thermoplasticity, solubility in solvent and machinability and has the advantages of inorganic polymeric compound and organic polymeric compound at the same time.
