Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance receiving sensitivity, by sampling reflected pulses by a plurality of independent sampling pulses having a fine time difference therebetween and adding a plurality of sampled outputs. CONSTITUTION:The reflected light from a target 5 becomes receiving pulse signal output A through a light receiver 6 and a wide band amplifier 7 and supplied to (N) sample holding circuits 8-1,..., 8-N. (N) sampling pulses B-1,..., B-N successively having fine time difference therebetween are supplied to the circuits 8 from a sampling pulse generator 13 and the output A is respectively sampled corresponding to the phase of the sampling pulses. Since (N) sampling pulses successively have fine time difference within the pulse width of the receiving pulse signal, sampling outputs C-1,..., C-N are obtained in the circuits 8 to be demodulated. Subsequently, these sampling outputs are added by an adder 14 to obtain addition output D. As mentioned above, by adding the sampling outputs of (N) systems and enhancing an S/N ratio, receiving sensitivity can be enhanced.
