Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable color printing of characters, symbols or figures with high resolution at high speed and enhance water resistance and surface strength of a base, by providing a coated layer comprising an oil-absorptive inorganic pigment, an organic pigment and an aqueous adhesive on a sheet shaped base. CONSTITUTION:A coated layer comprising 30-80wt.% of an oil-absorptive inorganic pigment, 5-40wt.% of an organic pigment having an average particle diameter of not more than 50mum and 12-50wt.% of an aqueous adhesive is provided on a sheet-shaped base in a coating weight of 1-40g/m<2>. As a binder in the coated layer, any of various water-soluble or water-dispersible adhesives can be used in the amount of 12-50wt.%, among which particularly preferred are acrylic acid, SBR and polyvinyl alcohol copolymers. The coating weight is generally 1-40g/m<2>, preferably, 5-20g/m<2>. The base may be a paper or a synthetic paper, or may be one of various plastic films, according to the use of the coated sheet being obtained.
