Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve performance and to obtain high-quality guide groove signals by providing a recording layer of a prescribed film thickness to the groove parts and non-groove parts of guide grooves having a prescribed depth and width. CONSTITUTION:The guide grooves 7 having the depth d=2,000-5,000Angstrom and 10,000-100,000Angstrom width are formed on a substrate (for example, polycarbonate) 1 by using a metallic mold 5. The diacetone alcohol soln. of the polymethine dye expressed by the formula is coated thereon by a gravure coating method to form the recording layer 2. The film thickness of the groove parts 7 is specified to >=1,500Angstrom and the film thickness of the non-groove parts to 800-1,200Angstrom . A protective substrate 4 (polycarbonate) is then laminated thereon by using an adhesive agent 3, by which the optical card medium is obtd. Polymethyl methacrylate, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, etc., are usable in addition to polycarbonate, as the substrate 1. Suitable additives may be added to the recording layer 2.
