Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve vector transformation efficiency by using a vector control unit having a switching control part to select the vector instructions inputted from plural scalar units for each instruction. CONSTITUTION:A switching control part is added into a vector control unit 140 to select and control the vector instructions received from the scalar units SU0120 and SU1121 for each instruction. The switching control part includes a set/reset latch circuit which shows that the instruction received from one of those scalar units has been selected. When the vector instruction is sent from only one scalar unit, this relevant scalar unit is selected. While the vector instructions are selected based on the priorities which are switched alternately in case the vector instructions are received from plural scalar units. Thus it is possible to eliminate the overhead due to the changeover of scalar units and to carry out a vector executing unit with high efficiency.
