Abstract

PURPOSE:To keep the temperature of a power control circuit within an allowable range by changing the working frequency supplied to a computer system comprising a CMOS circuit and controlling the generated electric power. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a computer system 1 is always monitored by a temperature monitor 5. The temperature data obtained by the monitor 5 are read by a program of the system 1 and a selection signal is given to a selector 9 from an output circuit 10 for control of a working frequency fB. The selector 9 selects a frequency fS that is accordant with the present temperature conditions out of those working frequencies 1/2fB-1/nfB outputted from a dividing circuit 8 and supplies the frequency fS to the system 1. Thus a power control circuit 12 increases the working frequency against a low temperature to increase the processing speed and then reduces the working frequency against a high temperature to reduce the processing speed respectively for suppression of the generated electric power. Thus it is possible to control the generated power and to keep the circuit temperature under an allowable range.
