Abstract

PURPOSE:To cope with the thinning of a device and to secure a magnetic field for a permanent magnet by forming an S pole and N pole on opposing same planes, displacing a permanent magnet in the direction parallel to a recording face and providing it so as to shift to a recording mode position or erasing mode position. CONSTITUTION:An S pole and N pole are formed so as to be magnetized on the same plane of the permanent magnet 5 opposed to a disk 4 and the permanent magnet 5 is provided so as to shift a recording mode and erasing mode by sliding it in the parallel direction to the recording face of the disk 4. The smaller shifting space in the height direction of the permanent magnet 5 will thus do, the thinning of a device can be coped with and the magnetizing area of an erasing pole 5b is made larger than that of a recording pole 5a, hence the information recorded on a recording face can surely be erased.
