Abstract

PURPOSE:To apply a magnetic disk for high-density digital storage by arraying servo magnetic pole pieces, indicating positions of respective bit cells of recorded data capable of holding specific information, in a data storage area in a disk surface. CONSTITUTION:For storage on and reproduction from a magnetic disk 10, an easily magnetized magnetic body 22, interposing as the 1st data track between a servo track C0 and a servo track C1, is regarded as a storage track. Further, a magnetized area surrounded with servo magnetic pole pieces is considered to be a storage area for every bit, and this is used as a bit storage cell. Those bit storage cells are located in the order of a bit storage cell 200 surrounded with servo magnetic pole pieces 100, 101, 110, and 111 and a bit storage cell 201 surrounded by servo magnetic pole pieces 101, 102, 111, and 112. Thus, servo magnetic pole pieces with special magnetic characteristics are located properly for respective bits of a data track, enabling high-density storage.
