Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve a higher measuring accuracy with a smaller thickness of the apparatus as a whole along with a reduction in the weight, by detecting component forces in beams of a load working on a load plate connected to a surrounding part therewith as an amount of strain to compute the position of the center of gravity. CONSTITUTION:The center part of a planar construction is connected to a surrounding part 2 thereof with four beams 3 to form a center part thereof as a load plate 1 subject to a load, namely, as center of gravity meter. To build the four beams 3, a horizontal groove 30 and a vertical groove 31 are formed. Therefore, it is so constructed that the load plate 1 as center of gravity meter is held in the air with the four beams 3 extended from the surrounding part 2 thereof. When a load works on the load plate 1 from above, a shearing strain is caused at the positions of the beams 3 and the amount of the strain is electrically amplified with a strain gauge 4 utilizing the shearing strain caused in the beams 3 to detect. The center of gravity is computed as displacement from a specified reference position based on the amount of strain at the portions of the beams detected to display.
