Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the metering accuracy by detecting the pressure loaded upon the side wall of a container.
CONSTITUTION: In the side wall 11 of a container 10 containing molten metal M, there are arranged at a spacing and in a vertical direction a plurality of pressure detectors 12 to 15 such as strain gauge or pressure-sensitive element, which are connected with a display device 18 through a calculating device 17. As a result, the outputs of the detectors 12 to 15 are fed to the calculating device 17, and the pressure differences between the adjacent detectors are calculated by a first calculating circuit 19 and are compared with a preset level by a first comparator 20. The judged output 22 is fed to an AND circuit 20-1 so that the first adjacent pressure detectors 12 and 13 having their pressure difference reduced to a constant are detected. Then, it is displayed in the device 18 that the liquid level of the molten metal M is higher than the uppermost detector 12. As the liquid level is lowered, second and third calculating circuits 24 and 30 and second and third comparator circuits 27 and 33 are used to detect and display the corresponding liquid levels.
