Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure a flow rate and contamination simultaneously, by applying difference in heat transmission characteristics depending on a heating length. CONSTITUTION:An S heater 4 less in the pipe axis-wise length and an L heater 6 larger therein are arranged separately on the circumferential surface of a pipe 2 to be measured such as condenser tube to form two kinds, long and short, of heating sections. Then, a fixed power is loaded each on the S heater 4 and the L heater 6 to detect an average temperature of the outer surface of the pipe in the respective heating sections. Temperatures of a fluid sufficiently upstream from the heating sections (the S heater 4 and L heater 6), for example, inlet temperatures of the pipe 2 being measured of a fluid to be passed are detected to determine respective temperature differences (DELTATS and DELTATL). The flow velocity in the pipe 2 being measured and contamination (coefficient) of the inner surface thereof are calculated simultaneously with a microcomputer 12 or the like from the DELTATS and DELTATL detected and a heating value fed in the respective heating sections.
