Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a remarkable reduction of self-inductance generated from a pulse current by providing a short circuit wire along a discharge closed circuit at a space in a branching portion of a pulse transmission wire of the power source device of a pulse for an electric discharge machining of a wire cut type or the like. CONSTITUTION:A subject device 10 has a work piece 11, which is branched off from the branch portion 15a of a pulse transmission wire 15 connected to a pulse voltage generating device 14, and electric wires 15b, 15c on a wire 12 side together with a short circuit wire 16 formed by the space from the work piece 11 to the wire 12. Therefore, if the pulse voltage is supplied from the pulse generating device 14, voltage caused by mutual induction is generated on the short circuit wire 16 causing a short circuit current to flow adverse to the discharge current flowing through the discharge closed circuit. A magnetic flux is similarly generated in the space of the winding of the short circuit 16 by this short circuit current. The direction of the magnetic flux, in this case, being adverse to the magnetic flux by the discharge closed circuit causes to offset the magnetic flux passing through the space of the winding of the discharge closed circuit, consequently, reducing remarkably the self-inductance generated in the discharge closed circuit.
